a geeky halloween

11.01.2012

halloween......
it took everything i had to get the hubby to participate in the geekyness.
everything but our black glasses and bowties we already owned or they came from the thrift store.
lilipops are the only thing that helped the little one keep his glasses on for 3.5 seconds.
makai's glasses are actually nates from when he was a little boy.
minus the lenses because we didn't want makai running into trees.
my parents drove 5 hours from michigan , just so they could see their cute grand baby trick or treat.
my mom was adorable, she made the cutest pippy costume.
makai said thank you, bye bye and happy halloween to everyone who filled his orange pumpkin bucket.
he even went up to one house by himself. he climbed  big boy steps all the way up to the front door,
said " trick or treat" and stood there patiently waiting for his candy.
it was a very big boy moment that gave me the biggest proud mommy smile.
makai got tons of candy from the 10 or so houses we went to,
but in the end, his bucket was mostly overflowing with fruit snacks...
something i'm sure his dreams are made of.
trick or treating was followed by....
a hot bowl of homemade chili, a fire in the fireplace, music on the record player, good conversation, pumpkin pie and the sorting and face filling of candy
while running to the door for the occasional trick or treater.
it was by far my favorite and most memorable halloween.

for us, halloween isn't about monsters and goblins and scary things. for us, it's a time to dress up and act a little silly. a time to meet our neighbors, fill our mouths with cavities,  live out family traditions and to create some very fun memories!

taking family pictures with a toddler.....
and then husband offers to let him push the button annd we got it! :)
