baseball, hotdogs, i forgot my crackerjacks

4.22.2014

nate's parents were in town for easter, so we all headed out to wrigley field for a baseball game. makai kept singing take me out to the ball game and then proceeded to tell me , more than once, "i forgot my peanuts and crackerjacks". so, peanuts it was!

when he taps you on the shoulder

3.30.2014

this morning i had a headache that has been lingering for days now and i allllmost didn't make it to church. as i was getting ready i started randomly thinking about micah 6:8 - he has shown you, o mortal, what is good. and what does the Lord require of you? to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your god.

when we got to church there were all kinds of booths set up for "celebration of hope" week at our church. these booths are set up to educate others on how they can make a lasting difference in the lives of those who are struggling against poverty in africa, asia and latin america.

as we talked with someone from faith comes by hearing (they provide digital recordings of the bible in more than 1,000 languages so millions of people are able to hear the gospel in their own native language. this is great tool for the 50% of the world who cannot read) we got on the topic of our adoption  and the three weeks we will be spending in lesotho ( whenever that day comes).

and guess what.....they are going to give us a "proclaimer", a solar powered digital playback device to take with us so to africa so that those in lesotho can hear the bible in their own native language, sotho!

then, as we were worshiping the worship leader opened his bible to... micah 6:8 and there we were singing about the verse that had been placed on my heart this morning.

i love that in those times when god starts to feel a bit distant and you are wondering where he is, he taps you on the shoulder and says...i'm right here.

adoption update: dossier sent to lesotho

3.28.2014

adoption update: our dossier has been submitted by our agency to lesotho! along with that, we were told the wait for a referral could be 1-2 years. it breaks our hearts that there are so many children sitting in orphanages when they have families all over the world waiting for them. stuck is a great documentary explaining why the wait is so long.

you can stream the movie here or watch it on netflix

3 things that we will be praying about during this long journey.
waiting, trusting and peace.

wait for the lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the lord. psalm 27:14

trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight. proverbs. 3:5-6

peace i leave with you; my peace i give you. i do not give to you as the world gives. do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. john 14:27

blessed assurance

3.26.2014

three years ago today we had to say our goodbyes to nate's childhood friend. then, just over three weeks ago, we stood in the same funeral home, in the exact same spot and said goodbye to a dear childhood friend of mine. along with the beauty of this world there is great pain and sadness
but there is also comfort in the blessed assurance that this world is not our home....
