we have always had africa in our hearts and that is where we felt immediate attention when god opened our hearts to adoption. after much prayer and research ( domestic adoption, foster care, adoption through foster care, and other countries such as haiti and china.) we knew africa is where we were meant to be. as we asked god to open and close doors to the countries within africa, he opened the door to lesotho. as our hearts broke for the people and orphans there, we began to fall in love with the country. there was no turning back. this was it. this is the country where we would meet our so or daughter. this is the country where we would do our best to grasp tightly, to the people, and the culture, and the history, so that we can be sure our child forever knows their roots. this is the country that god placed in our lives, the country that we hope to some day be able to help in so many other ways.

a few other facts about adoption from lesotho...
* lesotho is part of the hague convention ( aims to prevent child trafficking and ensure that inter-country adoptions are in the best interests of children) you can read more about that here.
* at this time, there are only 4 countries ( one agency in each country) that are licensed to work in lesotho.

  1. It's obvious you both paused the crazy hectic lives we live to listen for the voice of God. On behalf of the Albrecht 5, we pray for all the necessary approvals, appointments and dollars to fall quickly in place so you can save a child of God from an unimaginable life. Your "radical" faith is inspiring. God bless and enjoy the journey!
