the door shut behind me
and locked Makai inside ALL ALONE!
I freaked out, thinking of what Makai could get into if left alone for 20 minutes,
and ran in 4 inches of snow to my my sleeping night shift neighbors to use their phone.
I was so freaked out I could barely get out any words.
I stood there, in my wet from the snow pajamas, sobbing, with snot running down my face, using my sleeve ( all I had at that moment) to wipe it away.
I called Nate and told him to get home as soon as he could.
I sat in the back yard, in my neighbors coat and in a chair they gave me,
playing with Makai through the window until Daddy got home to let me in....
I have never been so worried AND embarrassed.....I think I was embarrassed because I had to wake the neighbors I barely know, I hadn't brushed my hair or teeth and I may have overreacted a bit. I was just so worried Makai was going to hurt himself, he gets into EVERYTHING and baby proofing something makes him that much more determined to figure it out.
There is now a spare key, like the one my mother told me to get months ago....
and we will be venturing out later to find the neighbors a gift.
Ughhhh crazy morning! So thankful..... the neighbors were home, Nate answered his phone, I opened the blinds this morning, Makai didn't climb onto the counter-tops and that I decided to wear descent pajamas to bed!
Makai,
I love you and you were a very good boy for Mommy today. I made a little mistake and you got locked inside all alone. But you stayed right where mommy could see you and refrained from running or jumping with the straw you had in your mouth the whole time :) You signed all done the last few minutes but for the most part I think you actually enjoyed playing through the window. Mommy isn't very good at handling these kinds of situations so could you pleassse refrain from doing anything dangerous for the next
Love,
your learning more everyday Mommy.

awwwww, what a great story. i am crying happy tears!!! xo
ReplyDeleteThank You! I started crying happy tears too, once I made it back inside with the little guy :)
DeleteYou must have been able to sit in a chair by a patio door or something? I like the way your title draws one in to want to find out what the story was about. I like to do the same when the story warrants it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Uncle Charlie! I was sitting next to the sliding glass door to our patio :)
