memories of a friend

5.16.2011

I mentioned briefly in this post that Nate lost one of his very good friends in a car accident. Well, it has been about 7 weeks and  there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about Eric and his beautiful family.....

Several weeks ago I got a call from Nate. He was on his way home from Eric's and was so excited about some of Eric's old windows Eric's wife Nichole had given him. You see, Eric loved old things and this was something that Nate shared with him. In fact it had only been a couple short weeks before we had to say goodbye to Eric that Nate and him were out looking for things to salvage that they could use in Eric's soon to be bistro/deli.

When Nate first told me about the windows I was actually pretty emotional. I was happy that Nate had something that could help him hold on to Eric but it was heartbreaking to think that there had once been another plan for these windows....

As soon as Nate pulled up in the driveway I knew exactly what we should do with Eric's windows. So, during Makai's nap I took them outside, hosed them down, wiped them clean and.......
Eric,
These windows remind us everyday to say another prayer for your beautiful family, they remind us to dance with our son, to loosen up and laugh a little more, to live each day to the fullest, to believe in our dreams and as Nate would say from your own words...go big or go home. Most importantly these windows hold your memory and the memory of a long time friendship you shared with my husband........

  1. Hi Amanda, I saw your post and had to comment. I gathered by some posted messages that you and Nate had been through the loss of a friend. Your message above is very touching and the video is very cool too. I guess for a brief moment I felt your pain and said a prayer for you and for Eric's family. I don't know them, but I am sure they need healing and some rest. Please say hello to Nate and let him know I think the world of him.
