because every boy needs a clubhouse- part 1

we decided ( on a whim) to build makai a clubhouse for his third birthday. there was no planning or sketching or idea hunting,  just our ....lets go look at materials, we will figure it out as we go, change our mind a million times family way of doing things. we chose to cover the floor and walls with cedar. aside from it's lovely smell and how beautiful it is, we wanted something that would weather well, without the upkeep of paint or varnish. we also want it to last quite a while, hence the 5 foot ceiling. we see him hanging out it here until he has to squat to get through the door. also, when the times comes, i much prefer him escaping to his clubhouse as to hiding 15 feet up in a tree like his daddy once did.  hopefully this tsunami like weather we are having will hold off so it will be done by little ones birthday. until then makai will continue spending his days playing store surrounded by studs while nailing holes in the walls with his little wooden hammer.
