first haircut....oops

Makai's hair was starting to get really long.
We liked it long, we really did.
But it was starting to turn into a baby mullet
and unfortunately we no longer live in the 80's.
So, we decided to cut it.
We thought about taking him to a salon
but since Nate cuts his own hair
we thought.....we got this.


We went out to the garage
stuck him in his booster seat
gave him a sucker ( hoping it would keep him still and busy)
and broke out the good ole hair clippers.
We knew he would be moving a lot and thought scissors would make things too choppy.

Turns out, Makai moved more than a lot.
Turns out, suckers make hair very sticky and very hard to cut.
Turns out, Makai has ninja like moves when trying to defend himself from hair clippers.
Turns out, we should have left the baby mullet.....

Here are all the pictures we got to capture the first haircut memory. They are all blurry since the garage was dark and Makai was showing off  his non stop ninja moves . It's OK though, it captures how hectic it felt with all the head holding, clipper swatting, sucker throwing , tears and panicked thoughts of  "what did we just do to our baby"

His hair looked better after we washed it but it is still pretty crazy looking. We are going to attempt one more " hopefully we can fix it " cut. Then we are going to let him sport a baby mullet until he is 3 because I am not putting my baby through that trauma again for a very long time! If I can wear a headband and leggings then my baby can sport a mullet....enough said.
